The light driven activity of bR has a wide application potential at sub-micrometer size scale: Proton concentration gradients generated during illumination across liposome membranes can be attractive for microchemical applications. bR-Liposomes can thus be regarded both as reaction vessels and microcontainers applicable in surface modification. The principle of a prospective surface activation method to prepare structured metal coatings is presented. Practical aspects were discussed.
